Major components of a motherboard!!!

Define:
What is a motherboards?
The main board of a computer, usually containing the circuitry for the central processing unit, keyboard, and monitor and often having slots for accepting additional circuitry.

What is a CPU?
central processing unit: the key component of a computer system, which contains the circuitry necessary to interpret and execute program instructions.

What is RAM?
Random access memory (RAM). It is a form of computer data storage , contains 512 megabytes

What is a heat sink?
Is an object that absorbs heat from another object using thermal contact either direct or radiant.

What is cheapest way to upgrade a computer?
The cheapest way is to add more RAM to the computer. Like adding 512mb.

What is storage?
It ‘s recording media that retain digital data used for computing for some interval of time.


What kind of connector is used for hard drives?
The best connector is IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics). Consists of source code editor, complier, build automation, and debugger

What is the new cable for hard drives?
Serial ATA and it’s the replacement for the parallel ATA physical storage interface. It’s used to connect computer storage

Do hard drive cables carry power?
The drive cables carry power enough to go back & forth

How does the computer gets its power?
The computer get its power from the power supply. It’s a source of electrical power

Why do you have to ground yourself before entering the computer?
You have to ground the computer yourself or you would get shock

What is a AGP port? What is it used for?
(AGP) Accelerated Graphics Port. It is used to put the graphic cards into the computer

What is a PCI Slot do? What is it used for?
It lets you plug certain accessories that your computer doesn’t have. Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)

What is PCI express? What is it used for?
PCI express is integrated video card and the sound system into the motherboard.

What kind of ports are also attached to the motherboard?
They are used in other electronic devices. Ethernet port and fire wire and USB ports

What is an Ethernet port? What is it used for?
It’s used to transfer data and you could connect another switch to this port to increase the number of computers connected.

What is USB? What is it used for?
Universal Serial Bus (USB). Is able to support and is supported by a large range of products & it’s usually located in the back of the computer. It’s designed to allow many peripherals to be connected .

What is a FireWire port? What is it used for?
FireWire is another versatile port that you can use for connecting many peripherals.

Does a motherboard have a battery? If so, what is it used for?
Yes a computer has a battery and it keeps the computer’s time & date when the computer is off. You can always replace the battery too
